Homemade Smoker Jerky

cook:

5 h 30 min

24 servings

From the moment I started making my own homemade beef jerky I was HOOKED. For starters, jerky is expensive, so making it at home is a total win. But you also can make SO MUCH and have it as a snacky food prep for the week. Plus you can control what ingredients you put in to make it much healthier.

Ingredients

3 lb London broil
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1/2 Juice of lemon

Directions

1.
For the Marinade:
1.
Combine crushed garlic, maple syrup, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and lemon juice in a bowl.
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1/2 Juice of lemon
2.
Add the sliced London broil to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
3 lb London broil
3.
Marinate ideally overnight or at least one hour.
4.
For Smoking:
1.
Drain the marinade from the meat and squeeze out excess liquid. *not essential but will ensure the jerky isn't over flavored.
2.
Preheat your smoker to the lowest smoke setting (approximately 185°F). You can also do this in the oven!
3.
Place the marinated meat on the smoker.
4.
Smoke for approximately 4 hours or until the meat is fully dried out and shreddy.

Notes

Use a smoker like a Traeger grill for best results. Ensure the meat is sliced between 1/8-1/4 inch against the grain for optimal texture.
